Scholarships Awarded 2016
The Friends of the Oro Valley Public Library have awarded four college scholarships. Awards were based on criteria including outstanding academic achievement, exemplary community service, and enrollment in a two- or four-year institution of higher learning in the state of Arizona.
Scholarship recipients for 2016 are Mackenzie Orlosky (CDO ’16), Emily Haskell (CDO ’16), Mary McNamara (Salpointe Catholic ’16), and Nathan Firor (CDO ’16). Each received a $1500 award payable to the school of their choice.
This is the second year the Friends have awarded scholarships as part of their ongoing support for lifetime learning. Monies for the scholarship program are provided through the myriad fundraising efforts of FOVPL volunteers as well as from private donations. Additional information pertaining to the Friends Scholarship Program may be found here.
Scholarships Awarded
The Friends of the Oro Valley Public Library hosted a coffee on May 14 to honor the 2015 college scholarship winners. Each recipient was awarded a $1500 scholarship payable to the Arizona school of their choice. This is the first year of the Friends scholarship program.
The recipients are Matthew Bumb (IR’15), Natalie Rudolph (CDO’15), Dezarae Pulver (CDO’15), and Hunter McAdams (CDO’15). They, along with family and friends, attended the coffee to be acknowledged as scholarship winners. Friends Board Members and volunteers got a chance to meet the students. The Friends thanked all the dedicated and hard working volunteers whose efforts contributed to the scholarship funding. (More information about the scholarship program here.)
